Shaheen Afridi, who dismissed Virat Kohli in the Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan, said the former captain is the backbone of the Men in Blue. The match was called off due to persistent rain in Kandy.
“Virat Kohli’s wicket was important for us. He is the backbone of Team India. We decided to bowl in the channel and it worked in our favour,” he told to Pakistan Cricket Board.
Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan added more than 100 runs to keep their team in the game.
“Hardik Pandya’s wicket was crucial and the contest was in our control. We can’t do anything about the weather. Overall, our performance was good,” he added.a
Pakistan have qualified for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023. India need to beat Nepal on September 4 to make it to the next round.
