Introduction
When we talk about Bollywood movies, they consist of various genres of movies ranging from Drama, Action, Horror, Sci-fi, Rom-com and Comedy. Of these, one genre which continues to keep us entertained throughout all these years is Comedy Movies. Since laughter is good for health and gives us a break from stressed work lives, let’s take a glimpse into some of the best comedy films that continue to be a great watch.
Double Dhamaal (2011)
The original Dhamaal movie had already set the benchmark very high with its incredibly funny sequences and spectacular box office records. So, the sequel Double Dhamaal had a high standard to maintain and it did.
Double Dhamaal started exactly where Dhamaal ended with a small twist as Sanjay Dutt becomes rich, but others not. So all others (Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Aashish Chaudhary) plans to con Sanjay Dutt, but they themselves got conned in the process. The story revolves around how the four friends repeatedly try to con Sanjay Dutt and how he traps them.
This movie sets apart from other sequels of comedy movies because you get to connect with the original characters and the continuity link with the first movie which is not forced and avoiding the cliched flashback scenes.
The funniest scene from the movie is when a real gorilla comes in front of Riteish instead of Aashish under fake gorilla costume and the chaos that takes place. If you wish to catch this hilarious movie, you can watch it on ZEE5.
Khichdi: The Movie (2010)
Earlier, Khichdi was one of a very popular comedy show on TV. But it won’t be of any problem for if you haven’t had watched any episodes of that serial as the movie’s storyline is different and you’ll simply love all the characters of the movie.
From my personal point of view after Dhamaal, Khichdi: The Movie is one movie which you can enjoy at any time without getting bored. Some of the most hilarious dialogues are:
Hansa Saying “Hello, How are? Khana kha ke jana haan! Main toh thakk gayi bhaishaab!”. Another dialogue of Hansa “Apko Bhagwan kisne banaya” to God of Knowledge (played by Satish Shah).
One more character “Praful” is fantastic in the movie. His comic timing and hilarious acts are superb and a treat to watch. This movie proved the fact that if storyline and characters are true to the script, then even TV serials can get good film adaptations.
3 Idiots(2009)
3 Idiots is an inspirational comedy movie directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie features a fantastic cast which includes Aamir Khan (Rancho), R. Madhavan (Farhan), Sharman Joshi (Raju), Kareena Kapoor Khan (Priya) and Boman Irani (Viru Sahastrabudhi aka Virus). The movie sheds light on our education system, where parents don’t allow their children to choose his destination by their own wishes. It also tells that rather than studying for securing marks, we should focus on gaining knowledge and you should choose a career which interests you.
But at the same time, the movie does not come across as preachy thanks to its incredible use of comedy to drive the story forward. Coming to the performance, all have worked their best to portray their roles, but it was Aamir Khan who was the showman of this movie. He stole the movie with his acting skills and looks. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi have performed very well and Kareena too does her part well. Boman Irani’s role as the strict Virus was one of his best performances. We have to give credit to the director Raj Kumar Hirani for giving people such a wonderful motivational movie with a slice of humour.
Munna Bhai M.B.B.S(2003)
Munna Bhai M.B.B.S is a comedy-drama movie directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie features Sanjay Dutt as Munna Bhai (a goon), Arshad Warsi as Circuit (friend of Munna Bhai), Sunil Dutt as the father of Munna Bhai and Boman Irani as Dr Asthana (a dean of a medical college). It is also stars Jimmy Shergill and Gracy Singh in supporting roles. The movie tells about focusing and working is not so important than having a kind-hearted heart with full of love as it can achieve anything in the world.
Every aspect of the movie, be it the performance, story, screenplay or dialogues, everything was super. Everyone have done their work perfectly, Specially Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi have done their best to portray their characters. With great music, touching performances and a story, the movie is a must watch.
Phir Hera Pheri(2006)
Phir Hera Pheri is a comedy movie directed by Neeraj Vora and Produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. The movie features Akshay Kumar (Raju), Sunil Shetty (Shyam), Paresh Rawal (Babu Rao). It is the sequel of the classic comedy “Hera Pheri” and takes the original story forward. Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever, Bipasha Basu and Rimi Sen are the new addition in the sequel. Watching the sequel means you draw a comparison with the first movie, where Raju, Shyam and Babu Rao were poor and how desperately they wanted money, but here movie starts with Raju, Shyam and Babu Rao are living happily after having risen from poor to rich. Still, they wanted more money to become richer. With the greed to make more money, how they come up with a new plan and what confusion happens this time forms the rest of the story. The climax scenes of the movie were the funniest, which surely make you laugh i.e. the last 30 minutes of the movie.
Undoubtedly it is one of the best comedies that we have seen in Bollywood. Coming to the performances, the movie belongs to Paresh Rawal from the beginning to end. Akshay is fantastic and Sunil Shetty is quite good. Whereas, Rimi and Bipasha, Rajpal and Johnny Lever also have done quite a good job. It is the kind of movie that you can watch multiple times without getting bored. Since it available on ZEE5, you can actually watch the movie on repeat as many times you want.
So, go ahead and check out these movies to take a break and just chill. Comedy movies are the ideal antidote for the busy, stressful lives.
