A mystical gemstone, Yellow Sapphire is one of the most valuable gemstones that exist on our planet. Also known as ‘Pukhraj’ in India, the gemstone is associated with the powerful planet Jupiter (also known as ‘Guru’ or ‘Brihaspati’) in Vedic astrology. We approached celebrity astrologer and gemologist Sundeep Kochar to gain some insight into the origin of Yellow Sapphire, the benefits of wearing the gemstone, and how to wear it.
Origins of Yellow Sapphire
Yellow Sapphires originating in Sri Lanka are considered to be of the best quality all across the globe. These sapphires, also known as Ceylon Sapphires, are available primarily across the Sri Lankan and Indian gemstone markets. On the other hand, Madagascar is the largest producer of yellow sapphires in the world, closely followed by Russia.
Benefits of wearing Yellow Sapphire
According to celebrity astrologer Sundeep Kochar, Yellow Sapphire bestows great benefits upon the wearer, largely due to its influence over the powerful planet Jupiter. The stone is known for favoring unmarried women who are having a hard time finding a suitable groom.
Other benefits that come with wearing Yellow Sapphire include upliftment of the wearer’s spirit, inflicting happiness and joy in one’s life, and combating negative vibes. The promising gemstone is also known for its healing properties. It is said that powdered yellow sapphire form a powerful antidote to jaundice and kidney ailments.
How to wear Yellow Sapphire?
While the majestic gemstone can be greatly beneficial, celebrity astrologer and gemologist Sundeep Kochar suggests that any gemstone should be worn following a proper ritual in order to optimize the benefits the stone has to offer.
According to Kochar, Yellow Sapphire should be worn in a gold ring on the index finger. Since the gemstone is ruled by Jupiter, it is advisable to wear Yellow Sapphire on a Thursday, preferably in the Shukla Paksha of a lunar month.
“Before wearing the gemstone, sit in the East, North or North East facing direction, on an asana covered with a yellow colored cloth. Dip the ring in a mixture of curd, honey, milk, sugar and pure ghee and then wash it with Gangajal in order to cleanse it of negative vibes,” says astrologer Sundeep Kochar.
He adds, “Also, before you put on the ring, chant the mantra ‘Om Gum Guruve Namah’ 108 times. This ensures that the planet Jupiter favors you, and bestows upon you unlimited peace and prosperity.”
