Mistakes you shouldn’t make in order to lose weight

The decision to lose weight and acting upon it is a very is a very inspiring and a life changing step that you could ever take. However, there is much more to a successful weight loss regime that just the inspiration and decision to do it. One of the most important factor that many of us do not take into consideration while following the path of this long journey to reach a point where we can lose a great amount of weight, but on the contrary gain more as there is a plateau to every measure we have taken to reach our goal. It all happens because among a lot of things that we know we should do, we neglect things we should not do and these mistakes halts and even reverses our progress and many times makes us even quit.

  • Having Unrealistic Expectations

It is most vital to choose and set realistic targets and goals that are beneficial in the long term. It is quite very true that we all want to lose weight and as much as we can within a short span of time, but this can happen only with crash diets, which is neither recommended, nor is good for your health. Having a realistic approach and expectations with the understanding that weight loss is a gradual process and long term goals could be achieved only by having your believe system strong, and staying focused without getting discouraged. Always remember that healthy weight and maintaining it should be a habit and not a short term crash course.

Tips: aim at short term goals initially with may be just a kilo or two in a week and achieve it.


  • Overindulging in Healthy Foods

We all know that healthy foods are good for us and hence it’s easy for all to eat them more and thinking that it would not make any difference. Well, the fact is that without these foods being healthy, they can lead to weight gain if overeaten. Particularly when it is with nutrient rich foods like avocado, nuts, brown rice and quinoa for example they are quite high in caloric values. Remember a calories are still calories, and excess of calories means excess of weight.

Tips: stick to a single serving of such foods or instead eat the recommended quantities. It is sometimes fine to eat more, but it is also important to keep in mind the servings.


  • Too much of Restrictions

One of the major mistakes people make while losing weight is eating tiny portions and feeling constantly hungry. Reducing portion sizes is right but not scanty eating. It very unhealthy as the calorie intake reduces and so does our metabolic rate and thereby making it difficult to lose weight.

Tips: eat enough that will satiate but will not make you full. Allow yourself a cheat meal or two in a week as it will help control cravings and keep you in track.


  • Skipping Meals

Another very common mistake we all make to lose weight is to skip important meals like breakfasts and dinner thinking that will do the job faster. It does works for some time initially by reducing the calorie intakes, but gradually slows down the metabolism making it difficult to lose weight later. Also, it provokes to binge on unhealthy snacks and overeat later during other meals.

Tips: ensure that you never skip important meals like breakfast as it provides the body with all necessary energy to go through the day and stops you from overeating.


The above mistakes are just a few that you should definitely avoid, especially if you want to lose seriously. Take time and understand your body well, focus on eating well and exercising right.
