Here’s Why Ant-Man And The Wasp Is A Direct Sequel To Captain America: Civil War

Ant-Man and the Wasp is Marvel’s next upcoming feature film that hits the theatres in just 11 days. It will be one of the most important movies of the entire Phase 3 as it will not one be a sequel to the previous films, it will also serve as a bridge between Infinity and Avengers 4. Well, we already know that this is a sequel to the first Ant-Man movie, but as it takes place right after the events of Civil War and before Infinity War, it also serves as a sequel to Captain America: Civil War.

We last saw Ant-Man in Captain America Civil War when he was imprisoned in the Raft for helping Captain America against Team Iron Man. He was then later rescued by Steve Rogers along with the others who were caught in the Raft. Since then, it was revealed in Infinity War and the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp that Scott Lang got a deal with the Government, and has been on house arrest, living with his daughter Cassie.

In the second movie in the Ant-Man franchise, we will see Scott recruited by Hope and Hank once again, but this time it is going to for bringing back Janet Van Dyne back from the Quantum Realm. Since Scott is the only one alive who has been in the Quantum and returned safely, Pym and Hope will be in need of his help. We missed Ant-Man in Infinity War but in the trailers, we saw that the movie will be a prequel to Infinity War, and be placed directly after Civil War.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios took part in a Press conference on Sunday, and here’s what he said about Ant-Man and the Wasp and its relation to Civil War:

“We could not ignore what happened to Scott Lang in [Captain America: Civil War] in this movie. There are ramifications of the Sokovia Accords and Scott being on house arrest. It really gave us a natural starting point.”

Paul Rudd also chimed into the conversation saying:

“One of the things that was kind of nice was that it gave us a little bit of leeway a little harder than we would have been able to. It felt as if we had a little bit more freedom to play into the humor. The first time around we were still modulating. That was one of the really fun parts about this.”

Well, Ant-Man and the Wasp is going to be a really important movie for Phase 3. It will answer what Ant-Man and the Wasp have been up to during the mega event of Infinity War, and it will also bring the big connection of Ant-Man to Avengers 4.

The Wasp, on the other hand, is going to have a separate mission in this movie. Here’s what the mission of Hope Van Dyne would be in the movie according to Director Reed:

“The mission that is happening with her, entirely separate of Scott, is vital. And it’s her mission. It’s not her dad’s mission. It’s her mission,” Reed explained, adding that while Lilly’s Hope is working with Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, Hope is the one who calls the shots. “It’s really Hope leading in charge and that was an important thing when we started talking about what was going on, is the what and why of this mission.”

Here’s Why Ant-Man And The Wasp Is A Direct Sequel To Captain America: Civil War

This was reported by Collider as they got to interview the Director of the movie. They also got to do certain set visits for this movie, where they hinted that the movie will have various different missions, but now the director has confirmed the fact that the movie will focus a whole lot on Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, Janet Van Dyne. Here’s what he said:

“The big mission is to find Janet. What that means ultimately for our characters on a personal level is one thing. What it means for the larger world is another thing. And all the other things are really, you know, stumbling blocks on the path.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp will hit the theatres on July 6 and it is said to be the best movie sequel in MCU ever since Captain America: The Winter Soldier came out.
