Carpenters work with various types of automated and manual tools. If you are a hobbyist or a professional carpenter, here are some tools that are essential for woodworking.
Multi-tools, such as the Swiss-army knife, are amazing life savers. It is a handy tool since it is compact and you can always have it with you. Multi-tools specifically for carpenters usually have a small ruler, wrench mechanism, scraper, and other carpenter-specific mechanisms all-in-one.
A multi-tool can look as simple as the picture, however, it has numerous uses. The tool in the picture does not look impressive or even useful, but I can assure you that you can create even a small wooden stool using just this tool. Of course, it will take a long time, but it is possible. The amazing thing is that you can buy this tool for as little as a dollar! With a tool like this you can save money on a wrench, ruler, and even a saw if you are patient enough to cut through a thick piece of wood with the tiny sharp edge of the tool. Here is an advertisement for a multi-tool I found on Amazon:
A nail gun is basically an automated version of a hammer. It does what its name indicates: it shoots nails. If you are a carpenter who works with tough materials, this is a must-have tool for you. I don’t really know how this machine works; I assume it uses science, physics and some sort of black magic to propel nails out of its mouth. All I know is that it’s a badass power tool and you HAVE to have it in your garage. If you have ever built even a simple table or a chair, you know that you have spent at least 10% of your time screwing and hammering in nails. With this tool you will be able to save up all that time and your nails will be attached even more accurately than when you did it by hand. If you are still doubting the usefulness of this tool, here is a video of an amazingly gifted carpenter goofing around with an industrial nail gun:
The two tools mentioned previously are used for specifically for carpenters. This next tool, however, is useful even for household chores. You have probably seen the viral video of a man attaching a corn onto a drill, turning it on and eating it in a comical way until he almost knocks his teeth out. Well, with the cordless drill, you can make your own viral video and get the 1 week of internet fame you have always wanted. The cordless drill is an automated gun-like tool that allows you to attach different screws and drills to its mouth and work on various surfaces. It is a compact but powerful tool and a good drill can make a hole in even a decade old hardened cement wall. Like the Nail gun, a cordless drill is an essential item for a modern carpenter. It saves up on time, power and is multifunctional therefore cost-saving. I recommend you get one for yourself if you are a woodworking hobbyist, or even if you simply buy a lot of IKEA furniture and need to screw on stuff.

Carpentry is a time consuming and difficult job. It requires a lot of physical labor and mechanical help. At the end of the day, you need to think about whether you want to save costs and make one table, or spend a little more on machines and make a few chairs as well.
